Armenia wants to open a data center for mining

On January 20, the leasing project for part of the territory of the old Hrazdan thermal plant in Armenia was approved by the country's public services regulatory commission, with the intention of setting up a cryptocurrency mining activity there. On one of the sites in the territory of the thermal power plant where the mining data center will be located, the "Ecos free economic zone" will operate, a new digital platform, whose purpose is to stimulate the development of the digital business environment and the production of products and services. innovative technologies.

In February 2018, the Hrazdan CHPP and the ECOS-M company entered into an agreement regarding the supply of electricity for the construction of a mining center with a capacity of 50 MW in the free economic zone. It was later announced that the mining center's capacity could potentially be increased to 200 MW.
